Commercial solar

Large roofs, measured against your actual load profile

Commercial solar is a different calculation from domestic. A business that runs through the working day consumes most of what it generates as it generates it, which is the best possible case for solar and usually produces a shorter payback than a house.

Sized from your consumption data

We start from your half-hourly consumption data rather than your roof area. That shows exactly how much of a proposed array you would use on site instead of exporting, which is the number that determines whether the project makes sense and how big it should be.

Roof types and structure

Flat roofs take ballasted or mechanically fixed mounting; profiled sheet and standing seam each take their own clamps. The constraint is almost always the roof structure and its remaining life, so a structural check comes before any firm number.

Grid connection

Larger installations need a G99 connection application to the network operator, which takes time and occasionally comes back with conditions. We handle the application and factor the timescale into the programme rather than discovering it late.

Ways to fund it

You can buy the system outright, or fund it through a lease or a power purchase agreement, where a third party owns the array and you buy the power it generates, usually below your current unit rate. Funded arrangements are placed through a commercial finance broker and quoted case by case, since they depend on roof size, tenure and consumption. These options are for commercial projects only; we do not offer finance on domestic installations.

Where commercial projects fall down

If you lease your premises with only a few years remaining, the numbers rarely work without a landlord agreement, and we would rather establish that at the first conversation than after a survey. Roofs with a short remaining life have the same problem.
